life is hard
they say. you nod your head in agreement, you’ve heard this maxim countless times. but it doesn’t hit you until it hits you. and only then can you agree and empathize with this sentiment.
i’ve been enjoying the freedom that comes with being in your late 20’s. like not caring what others think about me, eating out alone more, and writing the character description of my own life story.
but one thing i am consistently coming to terms with is that 3 word phrase:
life is hard.
and part of it is because sometimes life doesn’t go the way you want it to. part of it is because there’s fear in the unknown. and some of it because when the going gets tough, i just want to plop down on the floor and have someone hug me.
but one thing i am learning as life is getting harder is that God never gives me more than i can handle. and He is so so good and so faithful. His character is consistent with His word, and His word is true.
so when the going gets tough, i tell the going that my God is tougher. that’s another overused phrase that i’ve come to appreciate this year:
don’t tell your God about how big your problems are. tell your problems about how big your God is.
and so that’s how i’m surviving 2024 and how i plan to survive, and maybe even thrive, for the next 72 years on this planet. living, loving, and leaning when times get hard. and maybe i’ll even get to laugh some along the way.
