Looks like what I imagine Arizona looks like year round.

Reddish orange hues mixed in with foresty green, bright yellow sprinkled in with crispy brown.

Something that smells like burnt air, as if oxygen is cooking with nitrogen.

Ambiguous skies, somewhere between grey and blue.

Not cold enough to need to hold your hand, but not warm enough to reach out with mine.

A weird downcast over the entire city, maybe the mayor’s been crying.

Young squirrels playing hop scotch in a field of acorns, blissfully unaware as they dive into their feast.

And a longing for better days.

They’ll come soon, don’t worry.

Just look up and watch the sky change.
